Biographical Note
Rudolf Kvelve (1892-1979) was a well-known concert violinist and composer of his day and spent most of his adult life in La Crosse and owned his own violin studio from where he gave lessons. He wrote and published more than 60 compositions for piano, cello, violin and other musical instruments. He researched the music of the Winnebago (Dakota) native peoples and used many of their themes and rhythms in his own compositions. He also was an accomplished artist.
