Historical Note

The La Crosse Community Concert Association was founded by John G. Felton, Sr. (1885-1958) in 1932, and he remained the president of the organization through 1952. Community Concerts was a concept developed by Ward French in the late 1920s to bring live classical music to smaller venues in the United States through subscription memberships. Mr. French helped Mr. Felton establish the La Crosse group, which was part of the larger Community Concert Association based in New York, New York.

By 1948 Community Concert Service was a division of Columbia Arts Management, Inc.

The La Crosse Community Concert Association held its last performance season from 1979-1980.
