Scope and Contents

The City of La Crosse City Clerk's Office Cornerstone Historical Artifact Photocopies, 1854-1940 collection contains photocopies of various ephemeral items from La Crosse's past, mainly from the year, 1891, which were included in a display case of items retrieved from the City Hall cornerstone timecapsul from 1891 in combination with other additional historical materials. Included are, a Dr. Frank Powell check stub from State Bank (1892); the cover page of "A Brief Sketch of La Crosse, Wisc'n" (1854); City Clerk correspondence regarding the population of North La Crosse (November 1940); State Bank list of officers and employees (1891); La Crosse High School graduation program (1891); an invitation to the laying of the City Hall cornerstone (1891), Exchange Bank employees list (1891); two La Crosse National Bank informational sheets (1891); Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) informational pamphlet (1891); La Crosse Fruit House employee list (1891); Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church pastors and officers list (1891); City Officers and Standing Committees of the Common Council and Board of Education of the City of La Crosse (1889-1891); City Government of La Crosse informational booklet (1891-1893); Constitution and By-Laws of the YMCA of La Crosse (1883); Map of the City of La Crosse by H.I.
